Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)GEO

definition

Generative Engine Optimization is the practice of getting a brand cited and recommended inside AI-generated answers, by shaping content so answer engines retrieve, trust, and quote it.

The longer explanation

GEO is the answer-engine counterpart to SEO. Where SEO works to rank a page in a list of links, GEO works to get a brand named and cited inside the synthesized answer an AI returns.

How it relates to getting cited

Being cited is the whole point: in an AI answer there is no page two, so a brand is either in the short list the model recommends or it is invisible.
